Saturday Date Night and P90X

Hi all – how has your weekend been? Mine has been pretty good. On Saturday I decided to sleep in bit and try out one of the P90X videos instead of running. I probably should have just gone running because I’m soo sore today from it that running is out of the question. I woke up with soreness I haven’t felt since after my very first long run.

Before I jumped into P90X I ate a yummy oatmeal breakfast with strawberries.

I want to preface this by saying I am NOT really doing P90X. We have the DVDs, but realistically, our apartment is not conducive to the actual training program. We don’t have a lot of room to move around and do all the activities to the fullest.

That being said, I wanted to finally see what this program was all about. So I popped in the Plyometrics DVD and wondered what I was in for.

The answer – a lot of cardio, sweating and heavy breathing. It was tough. There was a ton of jumping, lunging, squatting, etc. It was really intense. The video was a full hour, but I think we were probably really working hard for about 50 minutes of the DVD.

At the end of the DVD I was pooped. But I felt really good. My legs had been worked in ways they hadn’t been in a very long time. I think today I may try the ab DVD.

After I finished the DVD, I ate a protein bar (still a few left) and then cleaned a bit. A little while later I was hungry again, so I threw some veggies in a bowl with balsamic vinegar.

That held me over until Hubby and I headed out for date night. A Shake Shack just opened up on the UES and I’ve been wanting to try it out. There is always a line out the door, so we gave ourselves a little extra time. When we got there, there was indeed a long line, but it moved pretty quickly and soon enough I was ordering a cheeseburger with fries and a diet coke. And it was yummy! We sat in the outside area and enjoyed our not-so-healthy summer dinner.

After dinner, we headed to the movie theater to see Inception.

We happened to talk to an older couple a Shake Shack and mentioned we were going to see this and they told us they hated it and actually walked out of the theater mid-movie. Well that didn’t exactly excite us, so I was a little hesitant when things started. However, I really liked it. The couple said it was too confusing and hard to follow, but both Hubby and I were able to follow everything okay.

All in all, I enjoyed it and it had me thinking and attentive the whole time. I certainly recommend it. It’s not a mindless movie though.

So that was our Saturday. And I’m sad that it’s Sunday already. On the agenda today – laundry at the laundry mat, cleaning, possibly P90X abs, dinner and True Blood.

How has your weekend been? What’s your Sunday look like?

And yes, I am upset with myself that I didn’t run, but I’m planning to ease back in on Monday night on the treadmill. I think setting a lofty 9-11 mile run goal might have intimidated me. I’ve decided to take baby steps now.

A Friday Book Review: The Hour I First Believed

Happy Friday everyone! We made it through another week. In two weeks from now, I will be packing up my bags and getting ready to travel to the Emerald Isle!! I can’t wait. I’m like a kid counting down to Christmas. 🙂

In the near term, I’m just excited that this weekend is finally here! I don’t have any major plans and I’m really hoping that I can get out tomorrow morning for a nice longish run. It’s been a while. I also started a new running book last night, which I’m hoping will serve to inspire me: Once a Runner. I’ll let you know how it is.

And that means that I finally finished The Hour I First Believed by Wally Lamb!! YAY! So I will leave you all on this fine Friday with a nice little book review. Have a great weekend!

The Hour I First Believed

By: Wally Lamb

This is the second Wally Lamb book I’ve read. I read “She’s Come Undone” a long time ago – I think when I was in high school and to be honest, I can’t recall very many details about that book. I probably need to read it again. I do remember that it was about some very traumatic and sad things. So I went into this second book kind of expecting some grizzly events and Lamb certainly followed through.

“The Hour I First Believed” spans several years (I want to say 15-20 years) of a man’s life. This man has a connection to the Columbine shooting and that event basically shapes and drives the course of the rest of his life. As you can imagine, it doesn’t exactly shape it in a positive way.

The main character, Caelum Quirk ,is very well-developed by Lamb. He isn’t perfect and his tone and sarcastic nature come across very well in the book. His anger can also be distinctly felt by the reader. I felt like his wife, Maureen, wasn’t as well-developed and I wasn’t able to connect with her as much.

If you ever thought you got a raw deal in life, please read this book and you will probably feel a little bit better. Every time something bad happened in Caelum’s life, I thought that was going to be the end of it. That was the last blow and now he was going to have a chance to start putting the pieces of his life back together. Umm, no. It pretty much stays tough for Caelum right up until the end of this book. I guess you could say that frustrated me. But maybe that was Lamb’s point; that in real life, the bad or difficult times don’t just come to an end forever, we will constantly have ups and downs and it’s unrealistic to think that at any point in your life the tough stuff will be over.

I will say that I thought for the most part, Caelum remained pretty positive in the face of such adversity. He definitely had his raw moments, but I always felt that he was going to pull through and work it out—he always made me believe (I know, how cliché right?).

Overall, I definitely recommend this book. It’s a long one with 700+ pages, but when you’re taking a journey through a decent chunk of a person’s life, you can’t expect it to be quick and easy. I wouldn’t say it’s a feel good book, but it might just make you appreciate some of the things in your life a little more as you work your way through the catastrophes in Caelum’s.

Looking Forward to the Weekend

Happy Thursday all – we are officially more than halfway through the week and I am pumped about it! I am looking forward to the weekend for a few reasons:

1. Hubby and I will likely go see Inception.
2. I think it will be a relaxing weekend.
3. I’ll probably finish my book “The Hour I First Believed” and get to start “Once a Runner.
4. I’m going to try to do a longish run (9-10 miles).

I’m hoping that maybe I will start “Once a Runner” before my run on Saturday morning, so it will inspire me a bit to get moving. This has been the longest and most difficult running slump I’ve had in a while. I’m also hoping that maybe the cooler weather forecasted for this weekend will also put me in the right spirit to run. I hate running in the heat.

What are your plans for the weekend ahead?

So I realized yesterday that someone (other than just me) has been particularly absent from my blog lately: Mr. Murphy! Here he is just about falling off his window perch. He’s really big.

He loves to lounge on his window perch and stalk the birdies outside. I woke him up when I took this picture and he proceeded to give me the stink eye…

In other cat news, Hubby tortured me last night by turning on a Hoarders show about animals! I started getting really upset. This one woman had 219 cats living in her house and a lot of them were very unhealthy. Her house was actually pretty much a shelter and she thought she was helping these poor animals, but they weren’t getting the medical attention they needed. At the end of the show, the Humane Society convinced her to give a lot of them up — they still allowed her to keep 85 cats in her home though.

While watching the sad hoarders show, I made these No-bake Protein Bars from this recipe.

My bars had:

1/2 Ripe Banana
1.5 cup Oats
1/2 cup Shredded Sweetened (couldn’t find unsweetened) Coconut
1/2 cup Raisins
1/2 cup Chocolate Chips
1/2 cup Agave Nectar
3/4 cup Peanut Butter
2 scoops of Protein Powder

I then placed them in the freezer for 2 1/2 hours. I snacked on one before bed and brought one to work with me today. I’m also thinking about fueling with a bar before my weekend run.

Lessons in Patience & Frugality

Hi all – it’s Tuesday. How was your Monday? Mine was okay – not a painful as expected. However, our evening was spent in the 95-degree laundry mat – so that was not fun. But I suppose our trip to the laundry mat was a perfect example of both patience and frugality–two things I’ve decided to work on.

First, the patience part. In short – I have very little patience. I have heard this from my husband, my co-workers, my family and my friends. It’s never really been one of my strong suits, but with this new leadership program I’m involved in at work, it’s all about improving upon your weaknesses.

So patience is a focus and I happened to buy a book on it last week and have been working my way through it slowly. I wanted to share just a few of the tips that stood out to me and I thought others might like:

  • Research today suggests that emotional immunity to negative states of mind may well be linked to physical immunity, even resistance to disease. (I read this to mean: those who don’t sweat the little things, or let others’ negatively get them down are happier and healthier.)
  • When someone is making a mistake or acting unkindly, putting up a tender opposition is often a demonstration of just how much we care. (Which to me means – someone might be wrong, but there’s no need to be mean, impatient or unkind when telling them so. Take time to think about how you would want someone to tell you you’ve made a mistake.)
  • We try to squeeze so much into our day that we end up with little time for anything — least of all, relationships. Being a good mother or father, brother or sister, friend or colleague, requires a lot of patience, and patience takes time.

Those are just a few of the key highlights of the book I’m reading called “Patience: A Little Book of Inner Strength” by Eknath Easwaran. I’m going to share more tips down the road as I continue to read through it…patiently. 🙂

My second focus will be on frugality. I definitely would not consider myself frivolous when it comes to money. My parents instilled in me a strong sense of monetary responsibility. But in these tough times, I could do more -who couldn’t?

I read this article today in the New York Times: “But Will It Make You Happy?” It was really sort of inspiring to read about the woman who stripped away all the excess, unnecessary things in her life and got back to basics. And the basics made her happier than the material stuff in her life.

I’m not saying I’m going to do exactly that. But I do have a few goals in mind:

  • Track my expenses in detail for 3 months (I currently keep track of the money going into my savings, but I need to track what I’m spending my money on)
  • Limit buying lunch to 1 day a week, and limit buying coffee to 1 day a week (this means bringing my lunch four days a week and that I can drink coffee at home before work if necessary)
  • Create a budget for our Ireland trip (I think this would be very helpful for us to have. I don’t know about you, but I have a tendency to think normal rules don’t apply when you’re on vacation. A budget would help us stay on track)
  • Once I track my expenditures and determine my monthly expenses, I will try cut them significantly. (Hard to say exactly how at this point because my solution will be based on what I spend the most on)

So there are my frugality goals. I’m also going to try to focus less on the “things” in my life and more on the experiences, since according to that article, experiences will keep you happy longer.

Do you know what your weak spots or areas for improvement are? Do you have any awesome patience or frugality tips to share?

Have a great day all!

Fun and Exhausting Girls Weekend

Good morning all. How can it be Monday already? I’m not ready for it. The weekend seriously flew by. My Friday night was low-key, as Hubby went to the Yankees game with a co-worker. But then Saturday was very busy and fun-filled.

I headed out around 10:00 a.m. to catch a Metro North train to Stamford, CT to meet up with a few of my girlfriends from college. Upon arrival, I met this new little arrival:

That would be little Miss Kendall. She is seriously precious.

The rest of Saturday day was spent grabbing some lunch and walking around an outdoor festival area in Norwalk, CT. It was really cute, fun and was a lovely afternoon.

After the festival, we headed back to my friend’s house to change for dinner and drop off little Kendall with her daddy for a few hours. Then we headed to this cute restaurant called Market in Stamford. We’d had a rather filling Mexican lunch, so I wanted to keep my dinner a little lighter. I ordered the chopped salad which was made up of local greens, jicama (actually not included), corn, apple, basque cheese with a champagne vinaigrette. No picture of my salad, but it was delicious.

Of course, we had to have dessert. We ordered two things, first these mini ice cream cones:

These were so cute and very yummy. But the star of the meal was definitely our second dessert:

This was called Crack Pie “Momofuko” and was described as NYC’s famous gooey, rich pie with coconut gelato. It was AMAZING!! This one was devoured.

And finally, here we are enjoying our nice dinner.

Katie, Kate, Me and Kim.

After dinner, the two Kates and I headed into NYC to watch a band play and proceeded to party well into the night. It got so late that when we hit up a diner at the end of our fun, I may have snoozed a bit – signalling it was time to go home.

Unfortunately, our partying and fun meant that Sunday was pretty much a complete waste of a day. Oh boy – I’m getting old. I managed to rouse myself enough to watch True Blood and then went straight to bed.

And as you may have guessed, on the running front – none was done this weekend. However, I just bought a book on running that I’m hoping will inspire me to get back into it, it’s called “Once a Runner.” Has anyone read it? The reviews on the back say it will make you want to go running – I sure hope so! But first I’ve got to push through “The Hour I First Believed” by Wally Lamb. It’s a good book, just long. I’m only about 250 page through the 700-page book.

What did you do this weekend? What were some of the highlights?

Have a good Monday all!

Two Days and False Advertising

Good morning all. I’m back for two days in a row. Woohoo. I’m going to try to keep my streak alive, but who knows.

So yesterday was a busy day and I didn’t get my run in after work. That was disappointing, but I decided not to let it get me down and instead I went home and had a veggie-fest for dinner. I was really craving veggies, but didn’t want the typical salad. So I made this:

A nice big bowl of cucumbers, grape tomatoes, carrots and cheese. It still shocks me that I used really dislike both cucumbers and all kinds of tomatoes. Now I could live off of them. I did add some balsamic vinegar, a sprinkle of salt and dash of pepper as well though.

Then for dessert I made a blueberry and granola mash-up.

I microwaved a few blueberries into liquid, then added granola and more blueberries on top. It was like a mini blueberry pie and fulfilled my sweet craving.

As you can tell, with our gas still being kaput, my dinners have become a little bit all over the place and not exactly traditional. It was kind of nice to have a “raw” meal last night.

What are some of the non-traditional or no-cook meals you’ve made and enjoyed?

I don’t expect that our gas will be fixed for potentially a few weeks, so I’m looking for new ideas. We do have a hot plate now, but I have yet to use it.

The second part of my post today is about false advertising. At my last job, false advertising was something the organization I worked for cracked down on, so I’ve become a little more aware of deceptive ads in my everyday life. Yesterday, I found one that really made me mad.

Have you ever purchased Dawn and seen the ad on the bottle that says $1 goes toward saving wildlife? I always felt so great when I saw that and thought – wow Dawn is a really admirable company, they are doing it right. Well guess what – $1 isn’t actually donated until you go online and enter in the code from the bottle you purchased.

Here I am thinking I’ve been helping to save wildlife for quite some time now, when in fact nothing was going to the animals at all because I didn’t read the fine print just below it. Also, there is $500,000 limit on the donation amount from Dawn. I can’t recall how long this marketing gimmick has been going on, but it’s feels like a long time in my book and so I logged onto their website and saw that they haven’t reached $500,000 yet.

I was mad. I know it sounds stupid, but I felt duped. I think we’ve purchased at least 5-6 of those bottles without me ever realizing I had to go online to actually donate any money. Sure $6 isn’t a lot, but it’s something. And maybe it’s my fault for not reading the tiny, tiny print below the $1 slogan, but do you really think that most people do? Well, I mean at least some people must have since the donation total is above $400,000, but still – how many bottles did those people buy before they actually read the print?!

And why stop at $500,000? I think now would be an especially appropriate time to ramp up your donation efforts for the animals – hello giant oil catastrophe. I mean doesn’t the Dawn detergent help with that cleaning process? They should be all over this – donating like crazy. And maybe they are…but the fine print and the limit still really irk me.

So my advice is to make darn sure that you put in that code on their website or else you haven’t donated at all! You have to go to www.dawnsaveswildlife.com to activate your code. And I’m really curious to see what happens when they hit $500,000, since I am sure there will still be bottles on the shelves with the donation language and imagery. I will say the choice of imagery was pretty genius. Who wouldn’t pick up a bottle to save this little guy:

source

I’m a sucker for the cute or sad-looking animals. I have to leave the room now when the darn ASPCA commercial with Sara McLachlan’s “Angel” song and the poor little abused animals comes on. Why? Because once when it came on and Hubby was in the kitchen, he came out into the living room to find me balling hysterically and providing my credit card information to a representative over the phone. He just shook his head and walked back into the kitchen. And now they call me every few months and try to guilt me into more – they know a sucker when they see one alright.

But I digress – my point is that if companies are going to tout their humanitarian efforts there should never be fine print or an extra step that the consumer needs to take. Consumers are lazy and I’m sure that’s what the company was banking on. We’re soo lazy and have such a short attention span, that the chances we’ll actually read that fine print and go that extras step are pretty slim.

I say shame on you Dawn for using what I feel to be a deceptive approach in your advertising – I think they should continue the donations even if they surpass $500,000 and institute an automatic donation when you simply buy a bottle.

Okay – that’s my little rant for the day. I bet anyone who still does read my blog is wishing I would take another hiatus. 🙂 Hope you all have a good day – and don’t forget to activate your donation code!

Not Quite Ready to Quit

Hi all – I know, who the heck am I right? I’ve been MIA for so long, I’m sure all my readership is gone, my bloggy friends have written me off, and nobody likes me… I guess I’ll go eat worms.

So what’s the deal right? Well – things have just been crazy busy at work and at home.  The fun non-work stuff has been running the Boilermaker back in July…

Camping with friends in Lake George…

Some BBQ-ing, hanging with friends and family, etc.

But when it rains it pours and as our summer fun picked up, so did my workload. A few weeks back, my boss gave me a new big project and responsibilities which have included a lot of coordination, creativity and writing.

But, as I started writing more at work, my desire to blog before or after work started to decline. I only had so many creative juices I could squeeze – ya know?

Anyway – I know this sounds like all excuses, excuses and maybe it is, but I don’t want to quit my blog completely. I just don’t think I can do it everyday. So my promise is to try to blog as often as possible, but it may not be everyday.

READ: Since I lasted posted, I’ve read two books:

EAT: Since I last posted, my eating hasn’t been great. On top of lacking motivation and time, we encountered an issue with our gas in our apt building and it has been turned off since July 24. Guess what – our stove is gas. Our solution was that Hubby and I went out and bought a hot plate, I’ve redefined the term microwave-friendly and have discovered that you can cook many, many things in a toaster oven. I jest, but seriously this has not been fun. Our dryer in the building also runs on gas, so Hubby and I have become the newest visitors to the nearby laundry mat, someplace I had never frequented before. It wasn’t as bad as I expected, but man is it expensive!

Run: This has been worst component. Since the Boilermaker on July 12, I think I’ve run maybe twice. And last night was one of those nights. I started off my run at a brisk 7:46 minute mile and then watched as my speed steadily declined and I began hyperventilating. Anyone watching would never have believed that I ran a marathon a short 3 months ago.   I finished up at a 9:18 minute mile pace. Last weekend, Katherine texted me to see if I wanted to run either 9 or 11 miles (can’t remember which) and I literally laughed out loud as I pictured myself keeling over at the end of that run. However, this week as I watched my gut start to expand, I decided to get back in the game. Afterall, I am signed up for a Half Marathon in October. Eeek!

So alas my friends – you finally know the truth about my disappearance. I will try to regain my momentum and find the time to stay updated with the blogworld, but I’m going to beg for a little slack as I get back into the swing.

If you’re a blogger – what has been your longest lapse…if you’ve ever had one?

I’m Still Here & a Restaurant Review!

I swear – I haven’t disappeared. I’ve just been really busy. The past two days were spent in a Leadership Development Class I was selected for about a month ago. They were full day classes about Communicating Up, Down and Across an Organization. It was taught by someone from the American Management Association and it was a really great class. However, since it was all day on Tuesday and Wednesday, I came into work early both days and stayed a little late to get things done, so blogging fell to the bottom of my list.

So anyway – I’m here and trying to catch up on quite a few blogs. But I also promised you a restaurant review! Last Wednesday, my friend Katie and I went to a little restaurant in the East Village.

Tsampa
212 E. 9th St., New York, NY 10003

We arrived at Tsampa fairy early (we’re the early-bird people hehe) and could very well have been the only people in the place. This Tibetan restaurant is conveniently (for me) located off the 6 line and I got off at Astor Place.

If you recall, last week in NYC was pretty sweltering. Wednesday was a really tough day and it didn’t seem like Tsampa’s air conditioning was up to par. As we walked inside, we noticed it was a little cooler, but not too much. We tried not to dwell on the heat as we were shown to our table in the front corner.

We were both ravenous, so we set to work on choosing an appetizer to hold us over. We ordered two 1) Khampa Momo With Chicken and Vegetables – which were dumplings and 2) Tibetan Salad Shredded Cabbage, Carrots, Greens, Cucumber with Sesame Vinaigrette.

one dumpling left

Both appetizers were delicious!

We also decided to try one of their “signature” drinks, which I can’t remember the name of, but looked a lot better than it tasted.

To me, this sort of tasted like soured milk. It looked so refreshing and milkshake-like, but it was not. We were very glad we decided to share this drink and not each get one.

For my entrée, I ordered one of the specials which was made with chicken, rice, cabbage, carrots, leafy greens and spices.

It was sooo good!! And it was really filling as well. I wish it was on the menu all the time.

Overall, our meal was delicious and super cheap. The NY Magazine review of this restaurant also states that all their chicken is free-range. While we both chose chicken dishes, there are a TON of vegetarian options. I would say more veg options than meat dishes actually.

All in all, I think we found a great little place to come back to for healthy, cheap and delicious food!

So that’s all for me today folks. I’ve got a lot of catching up to do. I hope you all have had a good week. I squeezed in a nice 5 mile run on Tuesday night and am going to try to run outside tonight. I’ve got a 4 mile race planned for Saturday morning and I’m hoping it’s not too hot, although the forecast is showing high temps. 😦 I know I shouldn’t complain about the warm summer weather, but sometimes it just makes running feel so awful!

Have a great Thursday all!!

Back from the Boilermaker!

Good morning – happy Monday! I’m trying to think positively here. How was everyone’s weekend?

I was a little mia for a bit at the end of last week and then we had a super busy weekend, so posting was not at the top of my list. Some of my weekend activities:

  • Finally going to see Eclipse with two of my girlfriends. I liked it soo much better than the first two movies and am looking forward to the next one already. I’m a sucker for cheesy movies.
  • Had a nice pasta dinner with Lauren before our Sunday race.
  • Dealt with some work stress over the weekend, but managed to get done what I needed to.
  • Ran my 6th Boilermaker 15k in Utica, N.Y. on Sunday morning!
  • Had a nice family BBQ at the in-law’s house after the race.

So those were the highlights of my weekend! What were the highlights of yours?

As far as the Boilermaker goes, I did not set a PR 😦 , but it wasn’t my worst time either. I ran it in 1:17:12. Last year I ran it in 1:17:03. I’m happy with that time considering I didn’t really train as well as I could have and hit a major running slump after the marathon in May.

So how was the race overall? It was fun, but tough. Last year when I ran this race, I had started marathon training a few weeks before and I think I was in a little better shape. This year, we started in a faster corral (thank goodness) and didn’t have to weave in and out of people as much. Here are my stats from the race:

Mile 1 – 8:13
Mile 2 – 8:15
Mile 3 – 8:22
Mile 4 – 8:43
Mile 5 – 7:39
Mile 6 – 7:50
Mile 7 – 8:38
Mile 8 – 7:59
Mile 9 – 8:32
.40 – 2:59

Total mileage – 9.40 miles in 1:17:13. Average pace 8:12 minute mile

It was pretty cool to run this race with a Garmin for the first time. In the past, I really didn’t have much clue what my splits were. Mile 3 -4 is definitely tough for me – it’s at a golf course and there is a big, huge, long hill that we run up for most of that mile. Ugh. I’m glad that is over.

But overall, this is such a fun race. The whole town comes out to cheer you on, there is music, tons of water stations, and even a popsicle station. It’s a good time and I highly recommend this race. Plus, it’s the biggest 15k in the U.S.! This year was even the largest in the history of the race – over 13,000 people! Anyway – if you’re even slightly intrigued, you should check it out.

We were having so much fun that we didn’t end up leaving the in-law’s place upstate until about 7:15 p.m. and get home until after 11!! That meant that bedtime didn’t happen until about midnight. That is super late for me. So, I’m pretty tired today and have a dentist appointment – not a good Monday.

Hope you all have a great Monday though!! I do have a NYC restaurant review that I need to post – hopefully tomorrow!

I Admit it…I’m a Planner

Good morning all. Happy Hump Day! Except it really only feels like Tuesday since we had Monday off. Don’t ya love that?

Yesterday wasn’t as rough as I thought it would be. Anything that technically feels like Monday is never fun, but the day went by pretty fast for me. Breakfast was boring cereal – no pic.

In the afternoon, I went out into the sweltering heat to grab some lunch.

You know – my usual salad. The salad place happened to be particularly busy yesterday and my regular salad guy was trying to move quick. So he literally just started throwing all my items in without me even asking. I noticed several people giving me strange looks and then finally the guy next to me said “Don’t worry – he does the same for me too. He knows my usual. It’s kind of nice and it impresses the tourists.” Haha. It was pretty funny.

Do you have staple meals or items that you consistently eat?

For some reason, I have always been this way when it comes to my lunch salad. At my last job, my co-workers wanted to buy me my salad as a surprise for my birthday, so they actually went in with a picture of me, showed it to the salad guy and he knew exactly who I was and what I wanted immediately. Surprisingly, I never feel like I get in a salad rut either. I only eat it once or twice a week at max – so it doesn’t seem to get old.

Sorry for that random tangent. I just thought it was hysterical.

After work yesterday, I decided to head to the gym for a short run. The heat was out of control and I knew running outside would be brutal. I did a quick 3 miles in 26:14 and then finished up with some ab and arm work. I was just not feeling like working out yesterday.

Dinner last night was back to the basics – pork chops and a massive side salad.

After dinner, I spent a little time working on some of our Ireland itinerary. We are all set for Dublin and Galway. Slowly making some progress. And yes, I’m booking all of our accommodations ahead of time because I’m just not the girl that can go without having everything set. I’d love to be that spontaneous and free, but that’s just not me. I’m a planner and I wouldn’t feel comfortable if I didn’t have it all squared away.

Are you a planner or do you prefer to fly by the seat of your pants?

Oh and just for fun, here is one of the few pics that was actually taken this weekend.

Yup – that’s Hubby and me on a four-wheeler! My mom grew up on a farm (a real one with cows, chickens, vegetables and all that), and we go up there once or twice a year to visit with our family in that area. In case you didn’t know, the easiest form of transportation on a farm is by four-wheeler. I grew up riding on them with my older cousins, so this was like a little blast from the past…and a lot of fun! 🙂

Ok all – have a Happy Hump Day!!
